I like the unit roster a lot, the monster hunts are fun and it is a good challenge! Kind of makes we consider playing another campaign with them. The only more frustrating thing was that - since you can’t occupy land bound non-capitals - after I made peace with a slave faction (couldn’t be bothered to kill off their last four cities) to defend against wood eves that started attacking in Bretonnia, I ended up having a severe rat infestation as they very quickly occupied essentially all cities I had razed in Bretonnia and the Empire. I had a couple of armies rampage around destroying things and another couple moving around to whack attackers. As some have said, you may have to defend more than you would like for a while, but I thought that was quite fun actually. One of the most fun campaigns I’ve played actually (have played all races, but not all LHs).
That said, there are some mods that do a good job of making Norsca more viable.
Total war warhammer norsca dlc update#
It can be fun but definitely needs an update and probably wont get one until after WH3 has launched. The result of this is you are usually forced to play defensively as Norsca when their entire race is designed to travel all over the map raiding and pillaging. The thing is that the AI in the current game will mostly just ignore the corruption and attack your vulnerable settlements and since AI factions get such powerful public order bonuses, they can settle pretty easily. Norsca cannot build walls so it has to rely on its very hostile homeland (both cold and chaos corruption). It enables players to embark on new campaigns as any playable Legendary Lord they own from both games and any owned DLC. The main problem with this race is the fact that it's not been updated.
Their special hunt mechanic is unique and a lot of fun but can be awkward since their campaign can get bogged down and extremely challenging very quickly. They only have two legendary lords and only one generic lord type, which can feel restrictive. Norsca has a solid roster that specializes is rush tactics and is very good at taking down large single entities.
